Variable Layouts
DesignMerge Pro now includes the Meadows GroupPicture™ module, which can be used to create variable layouts and groups, which can be referenced as variable elements in your VDP job!
Using GroupPicture, the user can take any InDesign or QuarkXPress document objects (text frames, picture frames, lines, etc.) group them, and save them as external files that we call GroupPictures. Think of a GroupPicture in the same way you would a TIFF or EPS file - the difference is that when the file is imported, you get the original document elements, perfectly positioned on the page.
GroupPicture files can also contain DesignMerge Variable Links, Rules, and CopyFit information. As the groups are imported, DesignMerge and GroupPicture communicate with one another, and the variable data contained within the groups is merged and updated at the same time.
GroupPicture is a truly unique product, and can be used for hundreds of applications, from one-up business card layouts, to full page custom travel brochures. Please view the sample video to learn more about using GroupPicture to merge variable layouts and groups in your document.
