Here, Meadows Publishing Solutions presents our DesignMerge software via video demonstrations.

DesignMerge Pro is a very powerful and sophisticated variable data printing (VDP) and data publishing software package that works directly within the QuarkXPress® or Adobe® InDesign® applications. The idea behind DesignMerge is very simple - just take any normal QuarkXPress or InDesign document, and “Make it Variable™”.

You can use DesignMerge to personalize virtually every aspect of a document, including Variable Text, Graphics, Articles, and even entire Layouts. DesignMerge also includes a number of advanced VDP features, such as automatic copyfitting, conditional logic programming, bar coding, and multi-up layout support.

CopyFit Module

CopyFit is an amazing software product that has been tightly integrated with DesignMerge Pro to check for and remedy overset text conditons, which are a common occurrence in VDP applications.

As an example, if your database contains the name of a person that is too long to fit within the defined text frame, this data will be clipped when it is printed. CopyFit works to remedy these conditions by quicklly applying a set of user-defined parameters that tighten the overset text until it just fits within the defined text frame, ensuring that the text will be fully visible on the printed piece.

CopyFit provides complete control over the definition of the attributes to be adjusted, including min/max allowable ranges, the “step” amount, and the priority of the attributes. What makes CopyFit truly unique is the set of pre-defined Fit Styles that apply the attribues in a slightly different fashion. This exclusive CopyFit feature can actually mimic the copy-fitting style of the designer, thereby ensuring an aesthetically pleasing result.

In addition to overset text, CopyFit can also be used to fully expand text to completely fill a text frame. A good example of this would be a variable headline that is designed fill the entire text frame area.
