Forward Hip Pivot Exercises

Toe Touch Progressions

Purpose: To re-educates the forward bending pattern by engaging the abdominals, gluteal muscles and extensor chain musculature.

Description: Execute exercise with 10 movements with toes on a 2 inch lift and repeat 10 more times with a 2 inch heel lift. Have both feet flush together, knees slightly bent, while squeezing a towel roll (or ball) between your inner thighs. Reach towards the sky (clasp hands if needed) and begin movement by bending forward at the trunk. Bend forward all the way until you can reach your toes. Important that if you are unable to touch your toes to bend the knees for the repetitions.
The second part of the exercise is the same as the first only the heels are now lifted 2 inches with the feet still together and a towel roll (or ball) squeezed between the thighs. Reach upwards towards the sky (clasp hands together if needed). Forward bending at the trunk, and reach down towards your toes. Repeat movement 10 times.
