A Walk On The High Line

The High Line was a neglected stretch of elevated railway in Manhattan, until in June 2009 it reopened as an innovative kind of public park. More a boulevard than a recreational area, it is a lovely place to stroll and enjoy a peaceful moment away from the bustle below. Modern landscaping and design is subtle and effective, blending into the landscape of water towers and brick buildings along the skyline. Benches and loungers are plentiful. Not really a place to take your kids, The High Line is a sophisticated strategy for urban reuse.
