Encodacam I'Robot On-Set Visualization

Encodacam I'Robot On-Set Visualization 2003. This was the first major motion picture to use Encodacam. We encoded a number of rigs, jibs, cranes & dollies to provide real-time 3D tracking. The previs team provided us with Maya Scenes typically a day or two in advance of shooting. These scenes were exported to Brainstorm. This was one of the last feature films to shoot with ARRI film cameras which is why the composite image is not great. A video tap off the film camera was composited with with Brainstorm using and Ultimatte 9. The director had a separate monitor in his video village showing encodacam output, which was slugged into the avid. Encodacam placeholder shots remained in the edit until Digital Domain completed shots to replace them.
