All films shot entirely in camera with a "NO VFX" brief from BJL. The shadow theatre company are Britains got talent winners 'Attraction'. The deceivingly simple look of these films is the product of complex choreography with ultra specific timings and marks, much of the performance was shot 'reverse action', as many of the shapes defied the laws of gravity when performed in the standard linear way. The dancers had to learn to 'act' backwards, then we reversed the film in the edit so it looked the right way round. We took our editor Matt Felsted, on location with us to build and check the film as we went - a great deal of head scratching was involved. Each film involved three days rehearsal and a one day shoot with extremely narrow margins for timings, no speed ramps or CGI here guvnor.
