A dystopian look at the world from the point of view of a strange traveller, Tilda puts in a highly emotive performance in this mixture of live action and animation. This was my first 'proper' film made somewhere in the later 90's. I was very inspired by Bowies character in the man who fell to earth, his isolation and sense of being alone with everybody. Dystopia, chaos and alienation are the themes woven into the film, from the time it came out this film took on a life of its own and developed a cult following. It played globally at festivals, our 35mm prints eventually becoming worn out, recently it was honoured by the BFI and put into their archives for future generations to watch.
