Recording with instrument tracks in SONAR platinum

In this tutorial, I will be covering the process for setting up and recording with a soft synth in Cakewalk Sonar. The version used for this video is one of the new subscription model versions - Platinum. This is the flagship version, but the concepts and features discussed here are standard in all versions of Sonar. The process is pretty straightforward, but does require a bit of setup to complete. Typically, you will create an Audio Track using either Right-Click Menus, or by using the Insert drop down menu. Once created, click one of the Track’s Inserts, then select your soft synth instrument of choice. At this point, Create a MIDI Track using one of the previously mentioned methods. Click the MIDI Track’s Output Selector button and the soft synth you just created on an audio track insert should show up as an available port. Then enable the Input echo button, record arm the track and hit the record button in the Transport section of the screen.
