Digital City Films is a short documentary film series produced by UAB Media Studies students. These 9 films are the final projects of the spring Ethnographic Filmmaking course.

In this class, pairs of students plan, research, write, film, and edit short films about community issues in the Greater Birmingham area. The course is community-based, offering the students and the community partners an opportunity to collaborate in the digital storytelling process.

Digital City grew out of an interdisciplinary partnership between the UAB Center for Urban Affairs, UAB University Honors Program, the UAB Department of History, the UAB Department of Art and Art History, UAB Service Learning, and McWane Science Center.

This program would not be possible without the support of the UAB Digital Media Commons, Dr. Colin Davis, Chair, Department of History, and Dr. Robert Palazzo, Dean, UAB College of Arts and Sciences.

The entire Digital City archive is available free via video streaming at UAB Media Studies Vimeo Albums.
