Quadruple Subdivision

• These exercises train you to execute precise QUADRUPLE SUBDIVISION.
This means you divide each beat equally into four parts.
• In music notation, it is the same as dividing a quarter note into four sixteenth notes, a half note into four eighth notes, or a whole note into four quarter notes.
• Do the exercises at the faster tempos first. They become progressively more difficult at the slower tempos.
• In addition to precisely subdividing the beat, try to make the metronome vanish. Be sure the volume is not too loud.
• Each tempo is available with a square, kick drum, or claves click sound. Choose the one you can most easily make vanish.

  1. Quadruple Subdivision 72 BPM 4/4 meter Square Clicks

1.The metronome will begin clicking (sixteenth notes).
2.Tap on or play along with each of those clicks.
    3. After two measures of introduction, the metronome will change its click (to quarter notes). BUT YOU WILL KEEP TAPPING OR PLAYING THE FASTER SIXTEENTH NOTES.
    4. Or, you can subdivide in your head and tap or play only the metronome clicks (quarter notes) and try to make each click vanish.
    5. When your taps are precisely in the pocket, the metronome clicks will vanish. Be sure the volume is not too loud.
*This same exercise is available below with other clicks. Choose the one you can most easily make vanish.
