Hemiola: Changing back and forth between 6/8 and 3/4 meter.

Many pieces in the repertoire change back and forth between 6/8 and 3/4 meter. The effect is called "hemiola". These exercises will help you master the rhythms. Begin with the SLOWER TEMPOS FIRST.

    This video will help you feel the beat as the meter changes back and forth between 6/8 and 3/4.

    Follow the blue baton. Tap/play the dotted quarter notes in 6/8 and the quarter notes in 3/4.

    Or, play a passage with the metronome from one of your pieces that switches back and forth from 6/8 to 3/4.
