A Bay-Area native, Wesley Harkonen received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture here at UC Berkeley before returning to pursue his Master’s degree.
The prefabrication promise is too tempting, too obvious, and too seemingly simple for the world to ever truly abandon. Since its inception in the industrial revolution the idea of the wholly factory produced building has popped up time and time again as the answer to the current milieu of societal problems. Every iteration has been driven by one fundamental question:
If industrial-manufacturing processes can produce other products and goods for society, then why can’t the same process be harnessed to produce higher quality and more affordable architecture?”
