Address America: Your Six-Word Stump Speech is an interactive civic engagement project designed by the National Constitution Center in partnership with SMITH Magazine to coincide with the 2012 U.S. presidential election. At the heart of Address America is a digital platform that enables the public to express their election priorities in the form of their ideal six-word stump speech. The project is featured in the Center’s main exhibition in Philadelphia where visitors submit and share their six words on the walls of the museum. The website, addressamerica.constitutioncenter.org, enables users to view historical six-word speeches, remix their submissions as well the submissions of other users, and share them across Facebook and Twitter. The Center is also traveling the project to cities hosting the Democratic and Republican Party National Conventions using a tree stump to capture man-on-the-street, video versions of the six-word stump speech.
