Fort Henry Sunset Ceremonies, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

The Sunset Ceremonies at Fort Henry, Kingston, Ontario, are truly a spectacle not to be missed. The Fort Henry Guard Drums, Drill Squad and Artillery Detachment act out various re-enactments with an educational narrative. (This was filmed in 2011 and there are spectacular lighting enhancements now)
Military life from 1867 is demonstrated with military drills based on original manuals. The Fife and Drum Corps played period music and the Fort Henry Guard demonstrated precise military drills and artillery manoeuvers. The Artillery and Firing Squad staged a mock battle.
The new Snider Enfield rifle (issued in 1866) was the first breach loading rifle and was a clear advantage. All the activities are performed by college and university students.
The pomp and pageantry is thrilling to watch and the kids in the audience even had a chance to participate. The evening ends with bagpipes, a trumpet and fireworks.

A very informative tour is available during the day demonstrating life at the fort. Daily life is explained by well versed tour guides.
Special dinner packages are served by soldier servants in the officers dining room. There is also an outdoor barbeque available.

This is a short video of some of the highlights of the evening performance from July 29, 2011. The Sunset Ceremonies are held on Wednesdays in July and August.
There's no show like it in Ontario.
