OBX Daydream | Chicamacomico Apparatus Drill
Predecessor to the U.S. Coast Guard, the Chicamacomico Lifesaving Station has a long-standing Beach Apparatus Drill program. The drill was performed originally by surfmen of the US Life Saving Service and continued after the merger that formed the USCG in 1915. The last actual rescue performed with the Beach Apparatus was in 1954. Enjoy this moment of history coming to life and start planning your visit today at: outerbanks.org/listing/chicamacomico-lifesaving-station-historic-site/259/. This Breeches Buoy Drill happens on Thursday at 2:00pm during the summer season.
