Re-imagining a Democratic Europe

Allan Armstrong talking at Re-imagining a Democratic Europe

An EU ruling class-in-the-making can no longer promise us greater unity or prosperity, just more austerity and migrant baiting. Uniting Europe (not just EU member states) now falls to socialists. Is this best achieved by national opt-outs (especially when the Right and Far Right are their main advocates), or by utilising this particular bosses' club, as we do our workplaces, to promote 'internationalism from below? We should be providing effective support for those sections of our class, the migrant workers and asylum seekers, who are in the frontline of current attacks. Otherwise, we face a 'carnival of reaction’.
