Movement Preparation: Cross Outs

• Athletes start with both feet outside the ladder, straddling the first square

• With a small hop, plant the left foot into the first square and the right foot directly in front, inside the second square

• With a small hop, plant both feet outside again, this time straddling the second square

• With a small hop, plant the left foot into the third square and the right foot directly behind, inside the second square

• Repeat pattern for length of the ladder

• Use verbal cues if needed: Out, cross left, out, cross right, etc.

• “Cross left” means left foot forward, “cross right” means right foot forward

PROGRESSION: As athletes improve, increase the speed.
