Movement Preparation: High Knees
• Drive knees upwards in short steps (bring thighs parallel to ground)
• Arms swing opposite to knee drives (e.g. left leg, right arm)
• Bend arms at 90 degrees, lock elbows
• Arms swing from the shoulder, hands travel hip‐to‐lip
• Alternatively, hold hands in front, waist height, palms down, and “slap” knees to hands
• Provide cues “knees up” or “thighs horizontal”on
PROGRESSION: Increase speed of the knee drive, and increase step count over the same distance.
