ARRI ALEXA W/ LOWCON 2000 (CONTRAST)
Schneider Optics MPTV Low Con 2000 filter test on the Arri Alexa
The Alexa has a 35mm CMOS Sensor
Low Contrast filters have always been popular with Directors of Photography, because they mute the excessive contrast often found in nature, and can also desaturate a scene for artistic mood. The lighter values can be used to just take the high contrast "edge" off of today's best lenses.
Unlike similar filters, LowCon filters reduce black contrast without reducing resolution or muddying the image.
This filter is available in strengths of 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1, and 2. These strengths achieve a subtle to a heavy effect.
