From August 18–22, Ross Institute and Ross School convened scholars, experts, and practitioners to critically examine Earth’s sustainability crisis as both an early childhood–grade 12 education issue and a youth rights issue. Throughout the week faculty attended presentations on topics ranging from climate refugees, overpopulation, the management and distribution of natural resources to different approaches in educating students to effect change.
Teachers and administrators then worked to refine the thread of sustainability within the Ross curriculum. Informed by systems thinking, this material focuses attention on—and instills a sense of urgency about—understanding the complexities of this issue and developing creative solutions in response.
