Directing Reel 2014
Ricardo Uhagon Vivas is a Spanish-American short film, commercial and music video director and producer.
Ricardo was born and raised in Madrid. In 2005, after earning a degree in Business Administration from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, he moved to New York City to follow his calling: movies and filmmaking. He attended various film workshops at NYFA and USC. He then worked as an assistant on various film sets, mostly with french helmer Michel Gondry. It was Gondry who inspired him to start a career as a director. In 2008 Ricardo moved back to Spain and co-founded Watergun Films, a production company and director´s collective. During that period he co-directed numerous commercials and music video projects.
In 2009, Ricardo was awarded the prestigious La Caixa fellowship to pursue a graduate degree in the US. In 2012, after graduating with a Masters in Broadcast Cinema at Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he returned to Madrid to continue his work with Watergun. After a 5 year run between Madrid and London, the Watergunners decided to part ways and focus on their own creative endeavours.
In 2014, Ricardo moved back to Los Angeles where he now resides. He has collaborated with screenwriter and producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa in various short film adaptations. At present he is developing his first feature film project.
