I in Wonderland (performance)

I in Wonderland (2012)

How can an illustrated book become a live performance? Many books have been adapted for screen, stage or audio-drama, few have been made an "animated-movie-theater-installation", as we call it. For this project Hiroko Tanahashi wrote stories, provided illustrations and then commissioned three animation artists to translate Hiroko's material into their own aesthetic worlds. All animations again were made for specific, unusual video installations. And all was tied together by a narrative frame - about narration - narrated by a silent fish-head-performer. Strangely, the performance had been marketed as "for young audiences too". It is just for everyone interested in the power of imagination and storytelling.

In January, "I in Wonderland" did a re-run at Theaterdiscounter in Berlin. Its 60 shows were all sold out.
