Southeast Kansas Symphony at Pittsburg State University

Founded in 1915 by Walter McCray, the professor for whom the music building at Pittsburg State University would be named, the Southeast Kansas Symphony at Pittsburg State University still is going strong 104 years later. With four major performances each academic year, its goal is to be an integral part of the culture of Southeast Kansas.

Southeast Kansas Symphony: "A Concert of Hope," 10-20-2020

The Southeast Kansas Symphony at Pittsburg State University will open its season with a virtual concert at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 20, to be streamed by the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts at Pittsburg State University.

The concert, “A Concert of Hope,” is under the direction of Raul Munguia. The playlist will include music from movies, musicals, and classical works. In addition to PSU music students who are members of the symphony, it will feature a special performance by alumni of the PSU Music Department now living in Japan, Colombia, Paraguay, and many states in the U.S.

“All musicians will record their parts from their dorm rooms, practice rooms, and homes, to deliver a one-of-a-kind virtual experience for the audience,” Munguia said.
