Upper Canada District School Board - Staff Roles
Safe at School - a proactive approach
The challenges involved in maintaining a safe school are growing and changing. Safe at School demonstrates how a school's prevention strategies and polices combined with the outside support of community agencies, parents and alumni can create a safer culture and tone in their school. The video is used by principals to stimulate the involvement of constituent groups and seed ideas on ways they can work together to improve school safety.
Principals will see a number of case studies of successful strategies other schools have developed and come away with a broader understanding of the key issues and components that are essential for developing a safe school plan. The video is divided into three main sections: characteristics of a safe school, early intervention and building community partnerships.
The program was produced in 2003 for the Canadian Principals' Council and received the Award of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Educational Communicators.
Time to Lead
Balancing humorous sketches with practical advice from real principals, "Time to Lead" guides harried administrators through the maze of time management. Proactive planning, delegating responsibility, handling meetings and ways of organizing clutter are a few of the areas covered in this comprehensive program that will be a boon to every stressed-out principal. The video was produced for the Ontario Principals' Council in 2004 and won an Award of Distinction from the Canadian Association of Educational Communicators.
