Navigating a Cookery Manuscript: How to Interpret What You See

Part of the Fales Library's Manuscript Cookbooks Conference. Featuring speakers Anne Mendelson, Sandy Oliver, Don Lindgren, and Steve Schmidt (presenting on behalf of Peter Rose). The speakers discuss how to approach cookery manuscripts as archival objects; ways of understanding the compilers of these recipes through their manuscripts’ language, organization, additions, and revisions; and the stories of immigration, aspiration, wealth or scarcity, religion, and relationships that manuscript cookbooks reveal.
