Managing Financial Stress & Restructuring in Higher Education

Financial Stress is nothing new for universities but is clearly going to get more intense with several alternative futures for the sector under discussion.

Those futures can affect universities now and can arise for a number of reasons from a range of different sources.

Today Higher Education finds itself facing a plethora of financial pressures which could be accelerated by the forthcoming AUGER REVIEW of Post-18 Education and Funding all of which need to be anticipated and prepared for.

This specialist programme will explore financial and strategic planning in higher education in a period of change for everyone.

Reform and restructuring can be just as difficult and painful for an institution and much more common than a whole institution failure. UK universities have not had one since 1998.

This programme will take participants through an informed discussion with a panel of experts on how stress and restructuring demands might arise.

The programme will help participants and viewers to understand how universities can be set up to provide the maximum number of options to help protect themselves and their students.

What structures and strategies should a prudent board of governors and management team have in place to be ready to deal with a range of challenging futures?

What might unfold before, during and after parts of a university become unsustainable and gets into financial distress and the government and OFS stick to their stated position of non-intervention?

Is the real future one of painful financial change and restructuring for everyone, not just those who at the edge of absolute failure?
