Creating Freedom From Addictive Behavior
Addiction can take many forms (food, smoking, alcohol, gambling, gaming, computer, drugs, sex, etc.). You find yourself in its grip. It seems to take over your life. There seems no way to resist. You cannot get a handle on it. It feels bigger than you. Sometimes you deny it (“Oh, it's really not that bad!”). Sometimes you decide to fight it, only to find yourself later defeated again.
We speak of addictions when we cannot give up substances or behaviour, even if they have long-term adverse effects or consequences. Addictions can develop, mature and take chronic form, making them harder to deal with.
Each addiction is different. It can be caused by our faltering defence mechanisms or be our response to past traumas. Don't put off an exploration of your addictive patterns. I can help you learn how to let go of them.
