Food For Thought - East / Dairy, Ep. 4

When it comes to dairy I think a lot of people tend to overlook the obvious. In order to have milk a calf must be removed from it’s mother… as a byproduct of the dairy industry what should be done? In this episode Dan tackles the issues around animal welfare in the dairy industry. He visits a working commercial farm and learns first hand what goes into producing dairy as well as a leading technological research facility at the University of Guelph to try and find out how these animals are treated and what happens to the removed calves.
