onBeing: Courtney
I met Courtney at a bike shop. He was helping me find new tires and somehow we struck up a conversation about Hurricane Katrina, the levees breaking, the devastation. He was there for all of it. I asked to interview him for that reason alone, but once in front of the camera, I found that he offered up something unexpected: a willingness to talk about race in a way that most don't. From the inside out. Without being asked, he offered up the story of his struggle, one that he still wrestles with.
