My First Week With Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K - Here are some thoughts..

This is footage from the first week with my new Blackmagic Ursa Mini 4.6K, here is some thoughts..

I am very happy with the camera, especially the 15 stops of dynamic range.

In the video, there are both RAW Cinema DNG and Prores Recordings and in various resolutions scaled up and down. All recorded internally.

I have used it along with the shoulder kit and the URSA Viewfinder witch I can recommend. I will also be using the camera without, but they are good to have. I have also been using the DJI Focus,

I have tested different ISO settings and with my camera I can not recommend the use of ISO over 400.

I know there is videos out there where ISO 800 and 1600 has been used, but with this camera there is to much noise, I guess it is called fixed noise pattern, and I hope it can be fixed with a firmware update.

The quality of the XLR inputs sounds ok, but the sound to the headphones is a bit delayed witch is very annoying, also hoping for a firmware update,

A great firmware update could also be the option for making user presets, With all the possibilities It takes far to much time to change the settings during a shoot.

Be aware to use very fast Cfast cards, I use Transcend 128GB CFX650.
I also have one that is 450 MB/s and it is not fast enough to record slow-motion in 2K in RAW. Prores might be ok.

The best workflow for me with RAW files is: Make proxy files of all files in Resolve and edit in Avid Media Composer, be aware of scaling issues due to different file sizes and output possibilities. I rescaled all the files in Resolve.

Normally I have no problems conforming files in Resolve for onlineing proxys, but with DNGs from this camera I had to tell Resolve what files to use, a lot - Resolve called it "Conflict resolution" Anyone knows how to avoid this?

Also try out different lenses to se how the framing looks like when you are shooting in "Window Mode".
You would be surprised how large the crop really is. It does not matter if you are aware of it before you choose your lens.
