The Homestead School opened in 1978 to provide a rich academic and practical education within an exceptional rural setting. The School is located in the directors' century-old family homestead on eighty-five acres of fields, woods, marshes, ponds, and streams, twenty minutes north of Port Jervis and twenty-five minutes south of Monticello.

Homestead – Saving the Rain Forest

Marsha and Pete lead groups of Homestead School students through the various steps of turning gourds into beautiful birdhouses. The birdhouses are sold to parents and friends and the proceeds donated to SaveNature.org to protect the rain forests of the world.
