Technology and Globalization: Today’s “Contained Depression” Prospects for a Future “Golden Age" --
Tony Smith is Professor of Philosophy at Iowa State University. He received his Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1980 and was appointed to the faculty at Iowa State that same year. Professor Smith is the author of six books, including Technology and Capital: A Marxian Critique of the New Economy (2000) and Globalisation: A Systematic Marxian Account. He co-edited an anthology entitled Dialectics for the New Century, which included his article, “Towards a Systematic Dialectic of Globalization.” His most recent book is Beyond Liberal Egalitarianism (Brill, 2017).
