A massive building development threatens the natural heritage and a significant open area area for wild life.
A local Councillor, Jon Barry, has been working with the community group Friends of Freeman's Wood to try to save the area.
In an area that has been traditionally used for recreation, new housing and industrial units are planned. Freeman's Wood has a long tradition of being freely accessible. Developers have erected iron fences and privatised the land.
This video shows the fenced area along the River Lune footpath. This causes uproar and anxiety for the local people.
This story was recorded on the coldest day of the year.
