After half a century of brutal conflict, a newly signed agreement promises peace between the Colombian government and the FARC rebels. With peace come tremendous opportunities for conservation; Colombia is the most biologically diverse country on Earth, and many of its most unique landscapes and wildlife are in former conflict zones. To safeguard Colombia’s natural heritage for future generations, we must secure its 34 million acres of protected natural areas before the logging and timber industries exploit the country’s newfound stability to profit from these precious places. Heritage Colombia is an ambitious conservation initiative that aims to do just that. Learn more at worldwildlife.org/HeritageColombia.
