CPTN A&S - Stretches

The following videos demonstrate stretching exercises that can be used in the warm up and cool down portions of the CPT Program Design assignment.

2. Upper Trapezius Stretch

Purpose: Stretch and create relaxation of the upper trapezius muscle

Execution:
1. To stretch the right trapezius muscle, sit on a chair or stand in front of a railing.
2. Grab the railing with the RIGHT hand.
3. Keep the chest slightly elevated as the LEFT ear is lowered towards the left shoulder. Place the LEFT hand across the head, so that the fingers are almost touching the RIGHT ear.
4. Gently pull on the head to create a stretch with an intensity of 1-2 on a scale to 5 as you exhale (The exhalation should last about 7-10 seconds)
5. Inhale as you move the head to the neutral position.
6. Alternate between stretching the left and the right sides until a release is felt
