During the 1st century, the city of Corinth was a booming metropolis. Located about 50 miles west of Athens, it was not only a center of wealth; it was also a center of entertainment. The city was famous for its wild party life and its citizens indulged in every form of immoral pleasure imaginable. Corinth was a mess! But right in the middle of that mess, Paul planted a church, because he knew that Corinth was a city that needed a Savior!
