Nepal: Walking the rugged terrain to keep babies healthy

Pratima and her 5-month-old son, Rupesh, walk the scenic, dusty road home from a health center in Kaule, Nepal. There, Rupesh received immunizations that will help him stay healthy and fight off diseases such as measles, tuberculosis, diphtheria, and polio. The mother and son are from Kaule—a town in the foothills of Nepal that was heavily impacted by a 2015 earthquake.

Pratima, a seamstress by trade, has known the importance of immunizations since she was a kid. Even when others’ weren’t regularly receiving vaccinations, her mother insisted she get hers. Now that she has a son, she’s not taking any chances.
