René Cacheaux - Writing Code for Humans, Not Computers
The talk is about spending the extra time to write code in a way that’s easy to read. I’d start by explaining why this matters and follow up on some ideas about how to achieve readable code and how to make this a part of the testing process. Topics would include thinking about your code as telling a story, writing great method names, organizing code into well organized directories (and how to achieve good organization ), what’s the right amount of documentation and where should that documentation live. I hope to inspire attendees to go back to their teams and code bases to make developing software more enjoyable. It’s a lot more fun to make changes to and add features to readable codebases.
