Singing Lessons - High Performance Screams - Robert Lunte
"The Hero" is a vocal workout was adopted from the late Maestro David Kyle's repertoire of vocal workouts. It hits hard and fast and is used to help students work on forming and modifying vowels with the TVS "throat shaping" techniques. Throat Shaping is the technique of forming your vowels intrinsically, or inside the vocal tract while keeping the embouchure (jaw, upper teeth and lips) static. The jaw bone, or mandible actually moves as an inefficient, hinge when singing. Up and down, and up and down the jaw bone goes and this movement is not efficient. It contributes to a lack of musculature and leverage in the voice and can lead to a singer's voice breaking apart, especially when singing in the head voice. Therefore, the practice of throat shaping removes this 'clunky' movement and replaces it with more refined, precision movements inside the vocal tract. Simply stated, the vowels are formed 90% inside the throat and the mouth becomes relatively static.
