Results First, an initiative of the Pew Center on the States and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, with additional support from the Annie E. Casey Foundation, is partnering with states to assess and advance policy options that benefit residents and improve states’ fiscal health. We are working closely with a selected group of states to implement a cutting-edge cost-benefit model, originally developed by the Washington State Institute for Public Policy, that enables state leaders to use rigorous analysis to inform their policy and budget deliberations.
This webinar provides an overview of cost-benefit analysis in criminal justice policy and describes the Results First approach. The sections of the webinar provide an in-depth look at the core components of model's crime module, discuss data requirements, and demonstrate how the model predicts the costs and outcomes of alternative criminal justice programs.
