Description:
“Anna Bergendahl – one of a generation” follows the young promising Swedish singer songwriter Anna Bergendahl on her journey from Sweden to USA. The one-hour documentary pictures a talented girl whose life changes when destiny puts a CD with her singing in the hands of the legendary Larry Klein, the producer of Joni Mitchell and Tracy Chapman.
It’s a dream come true for 20-year-old Anna Bergendahl, but she also reveals her thoughts from a hard time in her young life. 2 years ago Anna was left in silence after a big music competition in Europe where she didn’t make to the final. The Swedish people had high demands and many were disappointed. Today she has conquered the old demons and has a record contract with Decca records, with a US release. The documentary follows Anna during the special collaboration with Larry Klein, the recording of her new record and the big showcase in New York where Anna sings.
The portrait also reveals her childhood as a spring of inspiration:
– It’s always been my dad and I. Our hobby. My whole family used to go out to our summerhouse, but then it was the two of us who locked ourselves in the music room, as we called it. We sat there together until late at night and forgot about everything else.
She was just 5 years old when she fell in love with music; 5 years old when she knew what she wanted to do with her life. It was then she heard Tracy Chapman’s eponymous debut. The album, released in 1988, was an astonishing success.
Destiny plays a part also here, the bass player on the record: Larry Klein.
The documentary is a unique portrait of Anna Bergendahl and gives a close up on the work with the producer Larry Klein.
