Director: Ben Hume-Paton
British director Ben Hume-Paton has an impressive portfolio of stunning films to his credit including Nike, Lipitor, Honda, Clairol, Bioré, E45, and recently completed his first US project, a Veet campaign for Euro RSCG New York. A winner of the Fuji Film Scholarship, Hume-Paton left university with a degree in graphic design and started out directing music videos. Setting up his own creative production company, IDP, gave him a breadth of experience and it was during these years that he developed his knowledge of filmmaking. His memorable and provocative music promos soon led him into the realm of television commercials and he received immediate acclaim for his inspired direction on campaigns for Nike and Bioré. Ben has also been creatively involved with Honda, supplying their car launch films for the last three years as well as working for blue chip companies Pfizer, Hitachi, Yahoo and Microsoft. In addition to his commercials and music video projects, Hume-Paton has also been active in television. Directing a white-knuckled episode of Top Gear and an aviation series entitled Jetstream for Discovery Europe. Ben credits a combination of travel, fashion, architecture and graphic design as his major influences in his filmmaking. The whole organic process of filmmaking is important to him, especially editing where he can see his vision evolve into a singular piece of film. “It’s about looking around you, getting inspired, creating and making things.”
