In addition to official state representatives and regional organizations, non-state actors have an important role to play in conflict resolution and peace mediation. Civil society groups are agile, flexible, and often less threatening to the conflict parties than traditional state actors. This added value that civil society can bring into peace mediation is discussed in this video by African mediation experts.
