BVN 2016 Rio Olympics Master Plan Competition Entry

BVN received an Honourable Mention for this entry when the results were announced recently in the competition for the Master Plan for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

This proposition for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games at Rio de Janeiro is founded upon the need to provide a seamless and efficient operational plan for the Games and deliver a vibrant urban legacy. It sets out to create a new urban vision for Brazil, based on a human scale, sustainability and affordability. Street patterns are aligned with surrounding land and water forms and the courtyard typology is used in housing developments. This helps create a sense of community and social participation through neighbourhood gardens and surveillance which in turn enhances security and safety.
